The city of Lynden welcomes citizen participation on its various boards and committees. Members on some boards, commissions, and committees must meet specific requirements, and the Commissioners must appoint persons who meet those guidelines. Hearing Examiner
The Lynden Hearing Examiner position was created in 2021 to provide impartial administration of specific city decisions as determined by the Lynden Municipal Code (LMC 2.09).

Historic Preservation
Lynden passed its Historic Preservation Ordinance (Number 1492) in November, 2015. The Ordinance adopted a new Chapter 19.65 Historic Preservation to the Lynden Municipal Code and institutes a process for the identification, evaluation and protection of historic resources within the City of Lynden.

Lynden Civil Service Commission
The Lynden Civil Service Commission is comprised of three volunteer members who reside within the city limits of Lynden. The volunteer commissioners help oversee some aspects of hiring and employment for Police and Firefighters.
